The warm, clear Sunday night after the Federated Auto Parts 400 is when this side story takes place;

It is set at Burns Manor, a huge towering manor located in the town of Springfield; based in an unspecified part of the United States, it is also the hometown of Homer Simpson, the first NASCAR Cartoon Cup Series champion. At the present time, Mr. Burns, the old, greedy and corrupt owner of the mansion – as well as of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant that Homer worked at before getting into racing – is sitting quietly in his study, with his loyal right-hand man Waylon Smithers by his side. The entire mansion is just as quiet; but it won't be for long;

“It won't be long now, Smithers,” Mr. Burns sneers with anticipation. “In a few moments, our NASCAR Chase party will be a go. Everyone from the Cartoon Cup Series will be here; they'll have the time of their lives, plus everyone else will see just how generous I am, and that'll improve my image considerably. It's a win-win!”

At the same time, Smithers glances out the window, and can swear he's just seen headlights approaching the front gate. “Uh, sir, we'd better get downstairs to greet everyone; I think they're arriving now.”

“Blast it, you're right!” Mr. Burns exclaims. He hits a button on his desk opening the front gate to let the patrons in, then jumps up out of his chair faster than his frail body would normally allow. “To the elevator, Smithers!” With that, he and Smithers rush into the nearby elevator on their way down to the ground floor to meet and greet everyone...

In the meantime, a fleet of vehicles ranging from the ordinary to the bizarre roll through the open gate and into the front parking lot of Burns Manor. All (well, mostly all...) of the drivers, crew chiefs and spotters of the NASCAR Cartoon Cup Series are here, as well as a few Springfield locals whom Mr. Burns has allowed Homer Simpson to invite over (more on that later)...

“Man, I can't believe I actually made it into the Chase!” Homer laughs as he and his family walk up to the mansion. After that wreck last week, I thought we were done for sure.”

“Well, we all just forgot that the Chase is done differently, now,” his wife and crew chief Marge Simpson explains. “They now base eligibility on wins over points. You were one of just 15 drivers who won a race this season, and-”

“17,” their daughter Lisa Simpson breaks in. “One of them died, and the other was just a relief driver, so  that brings it down to 15.”

“Right, of course,” says Marge. “Anyway, there are 16 spots in the Chase this time around, and since you  won a race, that automatically got us in.”

“Well, I can't wait to go for another title!” Homer beams,

“And I can't wait to rub it in Milhouse's face!” his son and spotter Bart Simpson smirks under his breath.

“What?” replies Marge.

“Nothing!” Bart says hastily as they enter the mansion.

Before long, the entire entourage has crowded through the front doorway and into the front hallway. It has, just for this occasion, been converted into a giant ballroom, of sorts, complete with a giant disco ball on the ceiling, and a refreshments table operated by Smithers, with punch on one side for the kids and teenagers, and wine on the other side for the grown-ups. And standing on the balcony overlooking the hall, for everyone to see, is none other than Charles Montgomery Burns himself. A warm but sinister smile is coloring his face as he speaks;

“Welcome, NASCAR cartoon characters! I am truly honored and privileged to have you all basking in the presence of my wealth and power. And who would've thought that two of our own Springfieldians would be among those going at it for the Cartoon Cup? Heh heh. But that's to be attended to later. For now, make yourselves at home, feel free to meander throughout my place, check out the rare and precious artifacts that I've acquired over the years – without touching them, of course – and just have fun. That's all I have to say, so, you know, enjoy your time here, everyone!”

The lights begin to dim as the disco ball began to glow, and soothing soft rock music began to play on the loudspeakers. Gradually, the couples in the room begin to pear up and dance with each other, while Bart Simpson tracks down his friend Milhouse Van Houten, with whom he'd made a bet with, and won...

“Hey, Milhouse!” Bart calls as soon as he spots him. “Looks like I won our little bet, huh?”

“You... you did?” Milhouse asks nervously.

“Uh, yeah,” Bart replies. “You remember our bet, don't you? The deal was that if my dad didn't make the Chase, you'd get to force me to hook up with a girl. But he has made the Chase, so now you have to take over as his spotter next season, while I get to kick back on the motorhome with a Coke. Ha!”

“Oh, well, I don't have good vision,” Milhouse protests.

“Too bad,” Bart scoffs. “You lost the bet, you're gonna be my dad's spotter next season. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go get me some of that punch.”

Bart turns away from Milhouse, very much satisfied with himself, his victory of his bet, and the way he rubbed it in, on his way to the punch table. But he doesn't even manage to take one step before he bumps into someone; none other than Sherri, one half of the Mackleberry twins who Bart, Lisa and Milhouse all go to school with.

“Hey, what gives?!?” Bart snaps. “And what are you even doing here, anyway?”

Sherri, evidently more pleased to see Bart than he is to see her, says, “Well, your dad invited us, fair and square.”

“Why the hell would my dad invite you?!?”

“Well, let me put it this way,” Sherri explains. “Remember what I said about my sister liking you?”

Bart begins to shiver as he is reminded of the time when his father became coach of the peewee football team that Bart and Sherri both played on. They were undefeated with their star quarterback Nelson Muntz, but then Homer began to show favoritism towards Bart by, amongst other things, making him quarterback, which led to the bitter end of their undefeated streak. Sherri's reaction at the time; "You ruined our undefeated season! You ruined everything, ruiner... my sister likes you!"

“Uh, y-y-y-y-y-yeah,” Bart gulps. “Why?”

Slowly and with a smirk, Sherri replies, “'Cause it looks like she's been thinking about you a lot more than she was letting on...”

“Hey, cutie!” Before Bart can react, Terri Mackleberry – Sherri's twin sister – comes at Bart from behind, yanking at his shirt with all the strength she can muster. Before Bart can even summon up the strength to fight back, Terri has taken his shirt completely off and tossed it aside, revealing his hot and sweaty bare body.

“C'mon, baby, let's dance!” Terri says excitedly as she wraps her arms around Bart's body, clearly becoming aroused as she strokes the smooth, warm skin on his bare back, and whispering things like “Aww, you're so sweet!” as she gently rocks him back and forth in time with the music...

...needless to say, this is not what Bart had in mind at all! He had won his bet with Milhouse; this was only supposed to happen if he had lost. And somehow, he still bumped into Sherri, and she still forcibly hooked him up with Terri. What the heck is he gonna do now?

“Um, Lis... a little help?”

Lisa, at it so happens, has observed the whole thing. At first, she kind of wanted to help him out, but when she realizes that he is in fact being romanced and not bullied, she gradually starts to laugh at him over it.

“Sorry, Bart,” she chuckles. “I'm afraid you're on your own on this one!”

“Eventually, Lisa loses it as she collapses to the floor, rolling around in a laughing fit. Somehow, the thought of someone like Terri seriously falling for someone like Bart, combined with Bart's obvious unappreciativeness of it all, is just too much for her to handle. By the time she's gotten it all out of her system, she finds herself almost too exhausted to get back up on her own power. As if on cue, a hand suddenly reaches out to her, offering to help her up. Without even thinking, Lisa takes the hand and gets up; that's when she sees just whose hand she accepted;

“Milady,” Milhouse bows smugly. His motives, of course, having nothing to do with “just being a gentleman.” He has, in fact, had a long-standing crush on her, that has withstood tons of rejections from Lisa, boosted in part by occasional displays of sympathy on Lisa's part. And now, here they are, at Mr. Burns's grand party;

“Of all the boys at this party,” Lisa sighs, “it had to be you, didn't it?”

“Guess this is our lucky day, huh?” Milhouse winks. “Hey, since Bart had no trouble showing off his bod to the crowd, I was thinking...”

Suddenly and without warning, Milhouse whips off his T-shirt to reveal his own sweaty body. “Should help raise our profile at a positive level,” he grins, paying no heed to Lisa's uneasy wincing at the sight of his shirtless torso. “How 'bout we go... shake our groove thing? Nudge, nudge; wink, wink...”

Without even waiting for her to give permission, Milhouse takes hold of both of Lisa's hands and brings her up against his body, rocking her gently with the music much like how Terri is doing with Bart.

As for Lisa, she is still too exhausted from laughing to resist. At first, her reaction to this is “Oh God, kill me now!” But then she remembers that time when she drove him into the arms of an older girl named Taffy; she grew jealous, that jealousy lead to her driving Taffy away from Milhouse, and after Milhouse questioned her about how upset she wanted him to be, she went ahead and kissed him. Of course, it was a pity kiss, technically, but even she had to admit, it did taste kinda good...

“You know what? I think I'll just see where this goes,” Lisa shrugs. With that, she returns Milhouse's slow dance. Unlike Milhouse, though, she doesn't really have any romantic expectations, but even so, her dance with him does go quite well indeed...

Overall, love is very much in the air at Burns Manor. Edd, the current defending Cartoon Cup Series champion, manages to get a bit tender with Nazz (much to the chagrin of his friend-turned-rival Eddy); Danny Phantom gets so crazy with Sam Manson that it's a wonder they haven't fled to someplace more “private;” even the ponies get a bit romantic, with Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle rocking with the music against the big, strong bodies of Big McIntosh, Soarin' and Braeburn...

...but it's not all fun and games for everyone. Curled up on the floor in an adjacent corner, dejected and sad, is rookie sensation Wally Beatles. He was the points leader going into the Chase for the Cartoon Cup, and will therefore be in the Chase, but there is a crucial something missing from the equation that's ruining the fun, making him all empty and defeated inside.

“Why did I have to belittle Kuki the way I did?” he slurs to himself. “If only I'd let her be strong, she'd be here to share this with me – even though she didn't make the Chase. But she's not, and it's my fault, and this is all meaningless!” So angry Wally is with himself and so desperate he is to forget about it all, that he actually snuck some wine from the grown-up side of the table while Smithers wasn't looking, and he's already half-wasted, and not getting any better...

Kuki Sanban, meanwhile, hasn't even bothered to show up. What point is there when you're not even in the Chase? Instead, she's back at the Sector V treehouse, in her room, using her NASCAR racing simulator. Playing as NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Sr., on account of how she drives his car in real life, she aggressively slams any and all cars that come near her into submission; a near-perfect depiction of how she plans to drive the rest of this season.

“It's not fair,” she growls with every move she makes. “I'm just as tough and strong as Wally and everyone else in the Kids Next Door, but they just don't believe me. They all treat me like a baby. I'll show 'em! I'll prove that I can be HARDCORE!!!” she screams as she wrecks a whole pack of cars in one single swoop; something that one would be wise to expect her to pull off in at least one of the Chase races to come...
Just something that happens after the race at Richmond...

Since when did Monty regain his speed from years gone by? :rofl:

Looks like everyone's a winner, eh Bart and Milhouse? ;)

Can you feel the love tonight (pun intended)? :love: Of course, in Wally's case, we can't have it all. How could he sneak away some booze and drown his sorrows at a time like this? Poor little guy... :(

I can see that Kuki is following Bubbles' footsteps. :devilish:

All—mostly all—of the drivers, crew chiefs and spotters of the NASCAR Cartoon Cup Series are here, as well as a few Springfield locals whom Mr. Burns has allowed Homer Simpson to invite over. It's not everyday you go to a party at the home of the most despicable man in the world.

“Man, I can't believe I actually made it into the Chase!” Homer laughs as he and his family walk up to the mansion. "After that wreck last week, I thought we were in for an angry mob!”

“17,” their daughter Lisa Simpson breaks in. “One of them died, and the other was just a relief driver, so that brings it down to 15.”

“Oh, yes... Need to keep track more often. Anyway, there are 16 spots in the Chase this time around, and since you won a race, Homie, that automatically got us in.”

Coincidentally, Lisa sees the whole thing. At first, she kind of wanted to help Bart out. But since he is being romanced and not in serious trouble, she finds it rather humorous.
